He would die with Him
Before he would ever deny.

But the crowing cock
Signaled more than daylight sky.
Peter’s heart was stricken
Because before the rooster’s cry
he had denied not once but thrice,
Saying he did not even know
The one who stood before Caiaphas,
His master, Jesus the Christ.
