My
brothers and sisters under persecution
Report
that they have been blessed.
In
the midst of intimidation, danger, and fear,
When
by enemies of Christ they are pressed,
The
Lord gives them peace and comfort.
The
Holy Spirit becomes more dear.
As
they witness even during a beating,
The
Lord Jesus is ever near.

“But even if you should suffer for the sake of
righteousness, you are blessed.
And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled.”
1 Peter 3:13-14 (NASB)
phŏbŏs5401
– (to be put in fear); alarm or fright; - be afraid, + exceedingly, fear,
terror.
I subscribe to a magazine put out by Voice of the
Martyrs. I never cease to be amazed by the fact that people expelled from their
homes, tortured, and threatened with death, will return to the place of their
intimidation to bring the good news of Christ Jesus to the same ones who harmed
them. They report how blessed they are to be able to suffer for the sake of the
Gospel. Truly, theirs is the kingdom of Heaven ! (Matthew 5:10).
Father, I thank you for the freedom to worship you
here in America .
Help me to stand firm for you even in the midst of scoffers. Prepare my
brothers and sisters in Christ and me to be able to continue without fear when
persecution comes. Help us to be faithful to hide your word in our hearts in
order to sustain us in the day of trouble.
